The exhibition celebrates the breadth and diversity of contemporary abstraction while providing a platform for both emerging and established artists. \nWe are delighted to welcome Filitsa Giannopoulos as our guest judge\, who will select the recipients of our 1st\, 2nd and 3rd place prizes\, including the opportunity to present a solo exhibition at West End Art Space. \nCelebrate the opening with us\, meet the participating artists\, experience the exhibition for the first time\, and enjoy an afternoon of art\, conversation and connection. \nTickets can be purchased via Eventbrite. Please note that by purchasing a ticket to the Opening Reception\, you will automatically be entered into a random selection for the opportunity to attend artist Fiona Halse’s workshop\, Ways to Access the Subconscious and Personal Abstract Form\, held during the exhibition. \nThe workshop will involve a drawing and collage art making activity that focuses on ways to access the subconscious and personal abstract form. Selected participants will be contacted via email\, with full workshop details provided once the draw has taken place.

This work represents a shift from her usual focus on landscapes to an intimate exploration of the beauty found within them. Recognising the fleeting nature of life\, capturing this moment is a privilege\, offering a chance to pause\, breathe and marvel at the wonders of nature.

SUMMARY:'Alter' - Solo exhibition by Lisa Ray
DESCRIPTION:Alter is a solo exhibition by Brisbane-based photographer Lisa Ray\, presented at Jan Manton Gallery\, Artspace Teneriffe\, opening 9 September. Working across flowers\, portraiture and elemental forms\, Ray explores moments suspended between dissolution and emergence. Light resembles fire\, water becomes atmosphere\, and organic forms drift between the familiar and the imagined. Rather than documenting nature\, the works draw upon it as a language through which transformation\, surrender and renewal can be felt rather than explained. Created through a slow and intuitive process\, each work occupies a threshold where nothing is fixed. Flowers bloom\, fade and transform. The human figure appears not as a portrait of identity but as another vessel within the same cycle of change. \nRSVP to the gallery for opening event with the artist on Wednesday 9 September\, 6–8pm.\nShow runs 7 September – 13 September 2026

DESCRIPTION:Different Midnights is a collection of paintings\, moving image and free verse that explore the various ways individuals experience solitude. \nBy bringing these different stories together we are reminded of our commonalities and the value of being alone\, provoking us to question how do we experience solitude. It’s 12am and each art work frames a life\, sharing only the digestion of a day spent in the same city. Alone\, not connected\, dwelling\, quietly celebrating or reconciling their lives\, capturing each of their Different Midnights. With paintings central to the exhibition\, Niehus has continued to refine his creative process and elevate his work to new levels by exploring deeper still the degree that one can abstract a concept of emotion through the geometry of the human form\, and still evoke the empathy and curiosity needed to enter the viewer into the lottery that is the transformative power of art. \nOpening Reception: Saturday\, 29th August\, 2-4pm
