DESCRIPTION:MOORE CONTEMPORARY presents ‘Relational Painting’\, a solo exhibition by CAITLIN YARDLEY and her first comprehensive showing in Perth since 2015 exhibitions presented at PICA and Moana. \nYardley’s practice is one of assembly – fragments brought into relation through alignment and misalignment. ‘Relational Painting’ is anchored by a work first exhibited at Maison Louis Carré in 2017 where Yardley ‘re-made’ Fritz Glarner’s absent Relational Painting No. 62 (1953) as one of a series of placeholders in quilted black goat leather. Retaining only the titles and scale of the original works to reconvene the now dispersed collection once housed there. Located just outside Paris\, Maison Louis Carré is the house (now museum) that Alvar Aalto designed for Paris art dealer Louis Carré. In her exhibition\, Yardley continues her work materially with quilted goat leather and constructs new propositions and assemblages with gridded steel fragments. Installed as a constellation\, the relational extends into display\, insisting that meaning forms between things rather than within them – held\, if only temporarily through structure and proximity. \n‘Across her practice—from archival re-stagings to recent video installations—Yardley treats meaning not as inherent to objects\, but as something produced through encounter. DESCRIPTION:Can we use the talking cure to solve society’s ‘problem’ with women? \nThe Interior invites audiences into an exaggerated consultation room\, playfully furnished for psychoanalysis. Natalya Hughes’s immersive installation—combining sculptural seating\, richly patterned soft furnishings\, and uncanny objets d’art\, nestled around a hand-painted mural—generates a stimulating space to unpack our collective and unconscious biases. \nInterested in the role of women and their historical absence from positions of power\, Hughes’s part-professional\, part-domestic setting plays with gendered power dynamics between public and private space. The bespoke couches that dot the gallery take their lush contours from the shapes of the female body\, while motifs of eyes\, rats\, and snakes from Freud’s patient case studies ripple over their detailed upholstery. \nAudiences are invited to recline and be enveloped\, soothed and held\, by the furniture’s womanly forms\, while taking turns playing analyst and patient. In Bennetts’ practice\, time is not linear but lived. It is stretched\, slowed\, ruptured\, and suspended by the realities of living in a body in flux that refuses normative rhythms and constantly requires new forms of understanding. \nAcross these works\, Bennetts moves between different geographies and states of being. These spaces and the temporalities that govern them rarely align neatly. Instead\, they accumulate as fragments of data\, sensory impressions and embodied memory. \nFragmented\, divided—yet whole considers the body as a site where multiple timelines converge and how these temporal overlaps shape what it means to inhabit a body.

DESCRIPTION:Void_Melbourne presents Basel Series\, the second solo exhibition by Sydney-based artist Suzie Idiens. Originating from a set of small sketches made after visiting the Kunstmuseum Basel\, the works pursue a precise idea: investigations into the formal consequences of a single intervention of a geometric form. One corner removed. A slice\, a soft incision\, cutting away at the edge. Each painting pursues this idea with precision and conviction: a dominant field of thinly veiled colour\, held against a restrained incursion of a second colour at the margin. The exacting line where the two colours meet marks a clear delineation of territory on the canvas. Paint continues around the exposed cotton canvas edges\, the work asserting itself as an object as much as an image.

Raised on Nauo Country and based on Kaurna Yarta\, Edwards brings a nuanced understanding of art centre practice and emerging contemporary approaches. \nPresented in collaboration with the APY Art Centre Collective\, New Ground features artists from Tjala Arts\, Collective Art Centre\, Port Augusta Aboriginal Arts Mob\, and Umoona Community Art Centre. The mural includes distinguished portraits of pets who have crossed the rainbow bridge\, eldritch beings and animals in everyday life. DESCRIPTION:Jeetje is an invitation to re-examine the work of Ans Westra (1936–2023)\, one of Aotearoa New Zealand’s most significant documentary photographers. Jeetje [pronounced YAY-chuh] is a Dutch expression of surprise — and\, in this case\, delight. It sets the tone for this selection drawn from Westra’s vast archive of funny\, tender\, and poignant photographs spanning the 1960s to the 1980s. From poetry readings in graveyards to spirited street protests\, from competitive dog shows to karate kids on skates\, these are scenes that feel as though they could have been captured yesterday. \nThe Dowse Art Museum shared a longstanding relationship with Westra\, from staging her first retrospective in 1972 to hosting her as an artist in residence. Jeetje extends this relationship\, revealing a side of Westra’s practice seldom seen by the public. DESCRIPTION:Jasper Knight: collage\, prints and works on paper celebrates over twenty years of artmaking using paper-based methods of image making. Jasper\, who grew up close to Mosman Art Gallery on Sydney’s North Shore\, has long documented local landscapes. He came to prominence with his use of found materials and enamel house paint\, imbuing his landscapes with industrial aesthetics. Deeper looking at these works reveals an affection and reverence for these scenes\, often documented as surety against rapid regentrification.

SUMMARY:Shireen Taweel: the trig point
DESCRIPTION:the trig point is an imagining of local sacred architecture and of embodied space\, a work of speculation\, participation\, and a vision of future making. Celestial and terrestrial spectral forms shimmer in their magnitude\, transitioning in space and time. Skeletal geometry draped in silk orbits Alpha Centauri A; the trig point is a house of seven circles\, filled with reverence for environment and perception of place\, and a sonic performance of celestial navigation\, migration and faith. \nThis project is supported by Creative Australia’s Visual Arts and Crafts Strategy (VACS) Major Commissioning Projects fund. the trig point is an iterative exhibition presented with pacing seven circles at Gertrude Contemporary (2026) and Dunedin Public Art Gallery (2027).
