Alter is a solo exhibition by Brisbane-based photographer Lisa Ray, presented at Jan Manton Gallery, Artspace Teneriffe, opening 9 September. Working across flowers, portraiture and elemental forms, Ray explores moments suspended between dissolution and emergence. Light resembles fire, water becomes atmosphere, and organic forms drift between the familiar and the imagined. Rather than documenting nature, the works draw upon it as a language through which transformation, surrender and renewal can be felt rather than explained. Created through a slow and intuitive process, each work occupies a threshold where nothing is fixed. Flowers bloom, fade and transform. The human figure appears not as a portrait of identity but as another vessel within the same cycle of change.
