What do you get when you take a group of creatives and transport them to desert regions? Lots of delicious “wobbly bits“. That’s how recently deceased art world icon David Hockney is said to have described his relationship with the land and with drawing. But beneath the levity sits something larger. Art in the land transforms physical geography into a living, spiritual archive. It bridges the material world and the human soul, becoming a medium for ecological reverence and for the unseen forces of nature.
This group of artists working in drawing, paint, sculpture and the Land have been given the freedom to explore the depths of their responses to the sublime beauty of our desert regions in Far Western NSW.
