“While the world was standing still, the Universe kept moving, and we suddenly realised how fragile life can be.”
Shaun Robertson came to this realisation when the pandemic put a hold on our lives in 2020, and it motivated him to journey deeper into his photographic exploration of the Universe.

Shaun’s Dark Moon Astrophotography is a unique combination of art and science, made possible by specialised deep space cameras and advanced light filters. His work has been featured in numerous publications and has recently earned him the David Malin Award in the Deep Sky Category.

These stunning shots come together through 15 hours of imaging time and meticulous post-processing. Through them, we’re taken on a journey beyond the stars, and given a glimpse of sights ordinarily invisible to the naked eye.

“To comprehend that the light from distant nebulae and galaxies reaching my sensor has travelled thousands of light years has certainly been a life-changing experience for me.”
